Seedance 2.0 is a video generation model from ByteDance. It turns a text prompt, or a prompt plus reference images, video or audio, into a clip of 4 to 15 seconds.
The price table above lists Seedance 2.0 on ByteDance’s own API (BytePlus ModelArk) and on each reseller, with the day each price was checked. Every option, plus Seedance 2.0 Fast, Mini and 2.5, is on the Seedance pricing page.
Seedance 2.0 free: what is real
There is no free Seedance 2.0 API that we could find, and no weights to run yourself. The free route ByteDance’s own side offers is credits on Dreamina, and that page says they suit short drafts. If you publish often, Dreamina itself points you to a paid plan. Glidezo doesn’t offer free Seedance runs either.
Seedance 2.0 API
BytePlus ModelArk is ByteDance’s own API outside China, and the resellers in the table sell it pay-as-you-go. The Seedance API guide has curl, Python and JavaScript code, marked with whether each one was run.
Resolution
Sume’s catalog and BytePlus’s plan table list 480p, 720p, 1080p and 4K. The FAQ on the same BytePlus page says the maximum is 1080p, so check your provider before you plan around 4K.

Questions
- Is Seedance 2.0 free?
- Not as an API: every API provider in the table charges for it, and BytePlus's launch page lists only paid plans. The nearest thing to free is Dreamina, ByteDance's CapCut-run site. Its Seedance 2.0 Mini page says it offers daily free credits that can cover short drafts, with no credit card required. It gives no credit amount, and we did not sign up to test it. Sites that promise unlimited free Seedance 2.0 are third parties we have not tested.
- Where can I use Seedance 2.0?
- On the web through Dreamina and CapCut, or through an API on BytePlus and the providers in the price table. CapCut's US rollout, reported in April 2026, limited making videos from images or videos with real faces.
- How much does the Seedance 2.0 API cost?
- On Sume it costs $0.0711 / s at 480p and $0.1538 / s at 720p, so $0.769 for a 5 s 720p clip. BytePlus's own example for that clip is $0.76 / video.
- Is Seedance 2.0 open source?
- We found no sign of it. ByteDance sells it through its apps and API, and we could not find model weights to download. For a video model you can run yourself, see Wan 2.2.
- Who makes Seedance 2.0?
- ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, through its Seed research team.
- When was Seedance 2.0 released?
- It launched in February 2026; reports give February 12, with an earlier preview on February 9.
