Which Seedance is which
Seedance is ByteDance’s family of video models. Four are on sale today, plus the older 1.5 Pro:
- Seedance 2.5 is the newest and the most expensive, with clips up to 30 seconds.
- Seedance 2.0 is the main model, from 480p up to 4K.
- Seedance 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini are cheaper, lighter versions at 480p and 720p only.
- Seedance 1.5 Pro is the previous generation. ByteDance’s own price list no longer shows it, but Replicate, fal and WaveSpeedAI still sell it.
How ByteDance bills it
BytePlus ModelArk prices Seedance in tokens. The token count is the input video length plus the output video length, times the output width, height and frame rate, divided by 1024. So a longer clip, a higher resolution or a video you pass in as a reference all cost more. BytePlus prints worked examples for a 5 s 16:9 clip, and the tables use those, because they are what ByteDance itself says a clip costs.
Text-to-video and image-to-video cost the same. A video input is billed at a lower token rate, but its seconds are counted too.
Resellers and markups
Sume and Replicate charge ByteDance’s rate for Seedance 2.5. kie.ai, paid in its own credits, is below ByteDance’s rate for 2.0 Mini and above it for the other models. fal and WaveSpeedAI charge more, and the Higgsfield API lists about twice ByteDance’s price before the discounts it shows to some accounts. PiAPI and WaveSpeedAI ran limited-time discounts when we checked; the tables show their list prices.
On Higgsfield’s website, Seedance is paid in credits from a monthly plan, which our Higgsfield pricing comparison turns into dollars.
On Glidezo
The Product in Scene Ad skill uses Seedance 2.0. Online runs are priced from the Sume price plus our margin, and the run form shows both before you pay.
Questions
- How much does the Seedance 2.0 API cost?
- On BytePlus ModelArk, ByteDance's own API, a 5 s 720p clip costs $0.76 / video and a 5 s 1080p clip $1.87 / video. On Sume it is $0.1538 / s at 720p, so $0.769 for 5 s. Other providers range from $0.18 / s on Replicate to $0.3034 / s on fal at 720p.
- How much does Seedance 2.5 cost?
- BytePlus's own example puts a 5 s 720p clip at $1.156 / video. Sume and Replicate charge $0.2312 / s, the same. fal charges about $0.473 / s and the Higgsfield API lists $0.4622 / s before discounts, about twice ByteDance's price.
- Is there an official Seedance 2.0 API?
- Yes. ByteDance sells it through BytePlus ModelArk (outside China) and Volcengine (in China, priced in yuan). Every provider in the tables also offers it as a normal pay-as-you-go API; none of the pages we read had a waitlist.
- Why do Seedance prices differ so much between providers?
- ByteDance bills Seedance by tokens, which grow with resolution, length and frame rate, so providers turn that into per-second prices in different ways. Some add a margin, some sell at ByteDance's rate, and some run limited-time discounts. Check whether a price includes audio and whether a video input is billed too.
- Which Seedance model is cheapest?
- Seedance 2.0 Mini: $0.38 / video for a 5 s 720p clip on BytePlus, or $0.08 / s on Sume. It is the light version of 2.0; Fast sits between Mini and the full model.
