Can Claude Make Videos? The 3 Routes, Compared

Updated 2026-11-02

Yes, but not by filming anything. Claude has no video model of its own, so on its own it can't turn a prompt into realistic footage. It makes videos in three other ways: Claude Motion (animation, Team and Enterprise plans only), code it writes and renders to an MP4 on your computer, or a video model it calls through a connector.

Route 2, real: Claude Code ran our free Kinetic Type Title skill on a 4-core Linux computer. 6 seconds at 1080p, rendered in 28 seconds, no AI video model and no API cost.
Also route 2: our free Launch Video skill, from real screenshots of glidezo.com. 23 seconds, rendered in 79 seconds on the same kind of computer. No filmed footage or AI people: that is what route 3 is for.

Glidezo isn’t connected to Anthropic. We make free skills for the code route, so weigh what we say about it with that in mind. What we tried: we made the two videos above with the code route. We did not try Claude Motion or run a video model for this page, so those two sections rest on the official pages listed under Sources.

The three routes at a glance

Question Claude Motion Code (HyperFrames, Remotion) A video model through a connector
Makes Animated explainers, charts, product walkthroughs Titles, captions, charts, product videos, Shorts with text Realistic-looking clips, from a prompt
Can’t make Realistic footage or people Realistic footage or people, unless you supply the clip Exact text: AI models can garble letters
Needs Team or Enterprise plan Paid Claude plan for Claude Code, Node.js, FFmpeg Any Claude plan, plus an account with the video provider
What you pay Team from $20 a seat a month, billed yearly ($25 monthly). Counts toward your plan’s usage Pro from $17 a month, billed yearly ($20 monthly). Rendering is free The model’s price per clip, on top of your plan
Time to a result Not measured by us 28 seconds to render the 6-second title above 1 to 5 minutes a video, by Sume’s docs
Suits Teams already on those plans who want charts and explainers without installing anything Anyone who needs exact text, repeatable videos and no per-video cost Scenes you can’t draw in code

Prices were read on 2026-11-02 and change often, so check Claude’s pricing before you decide.

Route 1: Claude Motion

Claude Motion is Anthropic’s own animation tool, in beta. You describe the animation in chat. Claude writes it as code that animates text, charts, shapes and images, and you can change it in chat or in an editor, then export an MP4.

What it can’t do. Anthropic’s help page says it “doesn’t use a video generation model, so it doesn’t create realistic footage or people.” The page doesn’t mention voice, music or vertical video, so we can’t tell you whether those work. It also isn’t on Free, Pro, Max or Ultra plans. Longer or more complex animations use more of your plan’s limit.

Route 2: code Claude writes for you

Here Claude Code writes a small web page or React component that describes the video. A renderer then opens it in a headless browser, captures every frame, and joins the frames into an MP4 with FFmpeg. Nothing is filmed and no AI video model is called.

To try it, install our free skills in Claude Code, then ask for a video in plain words:

npx skills add glidezo/skills

Make a 6-second title that says “Claude Code made this video”, with “video” highlighted.

The first video above came from that wording, run by Claude Code through Kinetic Type Title. The same route gives you captions on your own clip, moving charts and a launch video. For a full walk-through with voice and captions, see how to make YouTube Shorts with Claude Code.

Which renderer? Our skills use HyperFrames, which is free for any size of company. Remotion is free for individuals and teams of up to three, and paid above that. We made the same video in both and timed them in Remotion vs HyperFrames. More tools are on our open-source page.

What it can’t do. It won’t invent footage of a real-looking street or person, and you need to be comfortable installing Node.js and FFmpeg. Claude Code also needs a paid plan, as it isn’t on Claude’s Free plan.

Route 3: connect Claude to a video model

A connector lets Claude call another service. With a video provider connected, Claude writes the prompt and asks the provider’s model to make the clip. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, and Free allows one.

As an example, these are the steps from Sume’s docs for Claude Code. We use Sume for Glidezo’s own image runs, and other providers exist. We didn’t run these steps for this page.

claude mcp add --transport http sume https://mcp.sume.com/mcp
claude mcp login sume

What it costs. You pay for every clip, even the ones you don’t like. A 5-second 720p clip on Seedance 2.5 was listed at $1.156 on Sume when we last checked (2026-10-31). See AI video API prices for other models and providers, and our Seedance 2.5 guide.

What it can’t do. Models can garble on-screen text, and the same prompt won’t give the same clip twice. If you need exact words, add them afterwards with code.

Which should you pick?

  • Your company already pays for Claude Team or Enterprise, and you want a chart or explainer: try Claude Motion first.
  • You need exact words, or many videos, or no per-video cost: use code. Start with the free skills.
  • You need something that looks filmed: use a video model, and expect to pay per clip.
  • You have a real clip and only need captions or titles: use code on top of it.

What Glidezo can and can’t do today

We don’t have a video route you can use online yet. The skills that run online make still images. If that is what you are after, see can Claude generate images?

For video, our code skills are free downloads that render on your computer, and the real estate slideshow maker makes a video from your photos in your own browser.

Questions

Can Claude make videos for free?
Not in one click. Anthropic's pricing page shows no Claude Motion and no Claude Code on the Free plan. A free account can have one custom connector, but a video model still charges for each clip. You can ask free Claude to write a HyperFrames page and render it yourself, as HyperFrames is free. That should work, but we haven't tried it with a free account.
Can Claude make realistic video of people?
Not by itself. Anthropic says Claude Motion doesn't use a video generation model, so it doesn't create realistic footage or people. Code routes draw text, charts, shapes and the images you give them. Realistic footage needs a video model through a connector, and each clip costs money.
Which Claude plans have Claude Motion?
Team and Enterprise, in beta, on 2026-11-02. Anthropic's pricing page lists it as not included on Free, Pro, Max and Ultra. On Enterprise an owner has to turn it on first.
Does Claude Code make the video itself?
Claude Code writes the code and runs the commands. A renderer such as HyperFrames or Remotion turns that code into frames, using a headless browser and FFmpeg on your computer. There is no charge per render, but Claude Code does need a paid Claude plan.
Can I run any of this on Glidezo without installing anything?
Not for video, today. Our code video skills are free downloads that render on your computer, and nothing on Glidezo renders code or calls a video model for you. The online skills on Glidezo make still images.
